“Distracted” is a play that first appeared Off-Broadway in March 2009 that explores one mother’s view of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

The following NY times article  about the play contains a link to a conversation with the playwright:

Quotes Tara Parker Pope’s Article:  “When is a diagnosis of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder viewed as good news? How does A.D.H.D. medication affect a child’s ability to create art? How do parents and children view attention deficit and hyperactivity problems differently?”

“These are some of the insights you’ll gain as you listen to an amazing multimedia project by Karen Barrow, called Patient Voices. This month she gives a voice to the millions of adults, children and families affected by attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. I was particularly taken by 12-year-old Kendrick Royal of New Orleans, who gives a fascinating glimpse into how taking A.D.H.D. medication affects his schoolwork”.  (I agree and hope you take the time to listen to this and visit some of the links provided.

Please read and comment on the following article that originally appeared in the Journal of Pediatric Nursing called “I Have Always Felt Different.” The article helps us to understand how ADHD is experienced from a child’s perspective-from my personal experience, I must add-these descriptions are quite accurate.
